These two are some of my favorite people on the planet. When we were deciding where to shoot their engagement photos downtown Lawrence was our first choice.
Mike and Diana live near downtown and have worked and played their for many years. We began in South Park and stopped at a few places along the way. Some were planned, break at the Red Lyon for a quick beer, and some were discovered along the way.
I was especially excited to find a new spot near Bon Bon and the new Lawrence Arts District that has so many possibilities for cool photos.
It was a really fun evening and I can’t wait for their wedding!
I went out this afternoon with the goal of capturing the beautiful Autumn colors. What I discovered was I was more fascinated by the light than the color. You never know what will inspire you. I like to challenge myself to only 24 shots. Mostly because I could shoot all day, haha, but mainly I do this to force myself to slow down and take better photos. Taking time to enjoy the scene, find a subject and look for the light make these little jaunts so relaxing for me. I think they also make me a better portrait photographer. These images were shot with my Nikon D300s, Lensbaby Composer Pro with Edge80 optic, sent to my iPhone via Mobi card and edited with the VSCO app. I like this setup because it’s lightweight and mobile which allows me more freedom than when I am carrying a lot of gear.
I needed to get out and shoot for fun today. My portrait studio is keeping me quite busy this Summer. This afternoon I ventured down to South Park to take some photos with my Lensbaby Velvet 56. It is super hot here today so I only shot for about 15 minutes, however, I love the images I captured. These were edited with VSCOcam on my iPad with the “Essence” preset. I love the look of old matte film. Thanks for looking. Leave a comment so I know you were here ❤️
