I went to visit our lovely new Lawrence Public Library today. What an amazing space for our community! In November of 2010 the citizens of Lawrence voted for a $19 million expansion to the current library. We love to read in LFK. The space is designed to accommodate a variety of community activities and acts as a central meeting place. There’s the “Teen Zone” a teen activity room with video game consoles and crafts, a children’s reading room, a large auditorium for lectures, community computers, self checkout kiosks and of course books. Lot’s of books. There is also an amazing glass sculpture that hangs above the grand staircase by artist Dierk Van Keppel. I love that my fellow Lawrencians understood the need to fund this project and in return the received an amazing space for the community. Awesome!
We had four inches of snow on Saturday so today I braved the frigid temps to go out and play with my new Sony QX10. This little gadget is a fully functional camera that attaches to your smart phone. At 22 megapixels and a 10x optical zoom it is a perfect fit for your phone. One of the coolest functions is that the lens has it’s own built in wifi so you can use it anywhere. The QX10 automatically sends your images to your phone, to edit and share on social media, and saves the images on the micro SD card. I haven’t owned a point and shoot camera in many years but I think I am going to enjoy this powerful lens 🙂
The latest update to Flipboard allows you to curate your own Pinterest Style magazine. They have also partnered with etsy so you can add your listings to your magazine. So cool right? Best part is your listings are complete with descriptions, photos and a link back to your shop. It’s also super easy.
First go to you will need to install the Flipboard Bookmarklet
After that is installed, go to your etsy shop and pick an item you want to feature in your magazine.
That’s it! Don’t forget to follow me, Gallery32, on Flipboard for all my favorite things on the interwebs!
We finally got a substantial snow storm yesterday. 10 inches of fluffy white snow coated everything. Today I was bold enough to step out with my iPhone and take some photos. I love the stark contrast of shadows against white snow. Edited with the VSCO app and cropped in Snapseed, I really like the look of these black and white images. Sometimes I am always amazed what can be accomplished with my iPhone and a few apps. Have a groovy weekend!
Our yearly county fair is this week and I went over to take some photos. I used my Lensbaby with the Edge 80 optic which, combined with processing in RadLab, gives these images a dreamy feeling. I have taken many photos of the fair with my Polaroid, iPhone and TTV cameras yet I think these are by far my favorite. Well, at least until I get a new lens 😉 I hope that you have a great weekend!
Just a quick peek of some flowers in my kitchen. Taken and edited with my iPhone and the 100 cameras in 1 app. Love how bright these turned out.

Most days I don’t know what I will post on this blog. I usually go about my day until something interesting happens or I am inspired to take photos. Today was a pretty mundane day of house cleaning and grocery shopping. Blah. I decided to make an Angel Food cake to top with fruit for dessert tonight and thought it might be the perfect time to try out my new iPhone app VSCO CAM. My friend Yvette turned me on to this app and I love it. Simple, elegant processing with the ease to upload to twitter, facebook & Instagram. It is my new go to app.
I had to get my Jeep registered today so off I went to the Douglas County Courthouse. It’s a wonderful old stone building with some really lovely iron and woodwork. Today, while I was there, I decided to do a little photo essay. The natural light throughout this space is amazing. It would be a really nice place for a portrait shoot. I took these with my iPhone and edited them with Instagram.
I was on my way to work when I spied this lovely blooming Magnolia tree. I snapped these photos with my iPhone and also took some shots with my Nikon. I will edit those tomorrow to share with you. Oh how I love an early Spring!
