Autumn is coming to Kansas. The days are getting shorter and the light is amazing right now. I went out for a walk to see what I could find in the changing Landscape. I found som really pretty things 🙂 These were shot with my Nikon D800, Lensbaby Edge80 optic then edited in Photoshop with ASE6. I am loving the Kodak Faded preset mixed with a bit of light filter. So pretty!
Today I made my annual end of Summer trek to Grinter Farms. This is one of the most amazing Sunflower fields you will ever see. Acres upon acres of beautiful yellow blooms. It is simply divine. I took these images with my Lensbaby Composer with the Edge80 optic and Double Glass with 10+ macro filters. They were then edited in Exposure 6 with light filters added. If you happen to stop by please remember to leave a donation. The Grinter’s plant this field every year for our pleasure so please show them some support and enjoy the view 🙂
A few more still life images for today. These images, and the ones posted yesterday, are now available in my shop. Treat yourself and add one to your home 🙂
Today I went for a walk looking for something to inspire me to take photos. I had downloaded the new Exposure 6 from Alien Skin and need to take some photos to experiment with this software. I found an abundance of wildflowers and decided to do some simple still life images.
Exposure 6 is amazing! I love it already and I haven’t even scratched the surface of what it can do. It works as a filter within Photoshop or as a standalone app. While editing these images with some of the presets I had visions of new ideas that I could shoot. It’s funny how creativity works sometimes. These photos were edited with VSCO Kodak Porta VC in Adobe Camera Raw, imported into Photoshop and edited with Exposure 6 using the Polaroid 600 preset, light leaks and textures. I. Am. In. Love.
I look forward to our little county fair every Summer. It’s very quaint and very Kansas. There are petting zoo’s, stick horse races demolition derbies and rides. Fun for everyone! I like to go when there is nobody there. It’s nice to walk around and take some photos in what looks like a ghost town of sorts. Nothing is happening but you can feel it brewing. Maybe I was out in the sun too long today, but I love it!
I have taken photos of the fair many times. A lot of times, actually, with different cameras and lenses. Somehow the never look the same. My editing changes, I am seeing differently or the light is different. So I keep going back. I am going to try to go tonight at sundown to shoot when it’s all lit up and sparkly. I love the fair 🙂
I had a photo shoot this morning at Gage Park in Topeka. Of course I had to stop by the Reinisch Rose Garden for some photos. I have attended many weddings there and have some fond memories of this beautiful garden. It was a truly enjoyable experience to wander around, take some photos and breathe in all the amazing scents. A lovely morning indeed. I will share the photos from the shoot early next week. Have a lovely weekend!
New items in the shop today!
I took a quick little walk around my neighborhood today and found some lovely Kansas Blooms. Everything is starting to change into lovely shades of Pink, Purple and green. Energized! I shot these with my Lensbaby Composer and the Edge80 optic. The edits were simply a quick white balance check, contrast and some enhancements with MCP Inspire actions. I love how subtle and customisable these actions can be. Just a quick post today as I am heading out for a meet up with my Kansas City Shoot and Share group this evening. I hope to share some photos and stories with you tomorrow 🙂
I was utterly bored today and decied to take some photos of spoons. Shot with my D800 and Lensbaby, I crumbled up some dried flowers and went to work. These were edited with VSCO Porta 800+, MCP Inspire Actions and then topped off with some textures from 2 Lil’ Owls Studio. I think I am going to do more of these studies since it’s too damn cold to go outside. I can’t wait for Spring!
